ACI Conference Code of Conduct

As a community and event, we wish to encourage positive behavior and want each participant and organizer to be and feel welcomed, included, and safe at the conference.

We are committed to providing an inclusive and harassment-free conference experience for everyone, regardless of gender identity and expression, age, sexual orientation, disability, physical appearance, body size, race, ethnicity, belief, or technology choices. As far as possible, we will do our best to accommodate specific needs, such as accessibility.

We expect all interactions between anyone involved in the ACI Conference (including reviewers, organisers and participants) to be respectful and constructive, including interactions during the review process, at the conference itself, and on social media.

To this end, the ACI Conference subscribes to the ACM's Policy Against Harassment at ACM Activities and Code of Ethics and Professional Conduct. While this Policy and Code of Ethics apply in their entirety to all participants and organisers of the ACI Conference, please take particular note of the following:

  • All conference attendees, speakers, sponsors, and volunteers are expected to observe the following code of conduct. Conference participants violating this code of conduct may be sanctioned or expelled from the conference at any time without receiving a refund, at the discretion of the conference organizers. A response that the participant was “just joking,” or “teasing,” or being “playful,” will not be accepted.

  • The organizers of the ACI Conference do not tolerate harassment of conference participants in any form. Sexual innuendo, imagery, and discriminatory language [outside the scope of relevant research presentations] are not appropriate for any conference venue, including talks, workshops, parties, Twitter, and other online media.

  • Anyone witnessing or being subjected to unacceptable behavior is encouraged to notify the Conference General Chairs. We encourage you to report any form of discrimination or harassment even if you do not wish for a formal follow-up procedure to take place. This will help us better understand the varying degrees of discrimination and harassment taking place, if any, and explore how we can prevent them in future events. All reports are strictly confidential.

For more information, please read the following documents:

  • The Policy Against Harassment at ACM Activities (Adopted by ACM Council June 21, 2018) includes details on expected behaviour, unacceptable behaviour, the consequences of unacceptable behaviour and how to report unacceptable behaviour.

Thank you for helping make this a welcoming, friendly event for all.
